Hooray for the Grammy Awards!! (Updated for 2014!)

So you guys remember my write-up on the Grammys last year, right? Specifically, how ridiculous and terrible the Best New Artist category can be? Well your 2014 results are in, and the winner was: Macklemore! Who, since apparently I’m a self-referential narcissist, was also mentioned on our humble blog last year.

Yes, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took home the award for their work on “The Heist”, beating out a list of obviously fictional people named Kacey Musgraves, James Blake (who I thought was a tennis player?), Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran.

On a totally unrelated and coincidental note, here’s each artist’s name again, along with the year they released their first album:

  • Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: 2006
  • Kacey Musgraves: 2002
  • James Blake, former #4-ranked tennis pro in the world-turned-young English musician: 2011
  • Kendrick Lamar: 2010
  • Ed Sheeran: 2011

Best New Artist. Grammys. Macklemore. You’ve still got it, Grammys!

I’m here for you guys, and I AM a doctor.) In any event, the Grammys present a unique opportunity for people to be told what music is the best by a group of strangers. What could possibly be better?!
